Traverser à la course, du 5 au 11 octobre 2014, le désert le plus aride au monde, le Désert d’Atacama au Chili, soit 250 km en autonomie complète (i.e. avec un sac à dos de 18 lbs) correspondant à 6 marathons en 7 jours en 35h17m32s, à des altitudes variant entre 3,300m et 2,300m, sous des températures s’échelonnant de -5•C la nuit à + de 45•C le jour, peut paraître hors de portée, voire inhumain… Mais non…!!! Non seulement je l’ai fait, mais j’ai dépassé tous les objectifs personnels que je m’étais fixés, soit, la 10ième place overall, sur 163 participants, représentant 36 pays différents, et ce à l’âge de 52 ans…!!!(J’espérais peut-être, 30ième en moins de 40 heures!!!)… Non, je n’étais pas un ancien olympien, ni un marathonien… En fait, je n’étais même pas un coureur…!!! Comment ai-je réussi…? Voici les mots clés: VOLONTÉ, DÉTERMINATION, PRÉPARATION, DISCIPLINE et COURAGE… Le tout chapeauté par une EXCELLENTE PRÉPARATION PHYSIQUE, NUTRITIONELLE et MENTALE… Donc, par Dr Denis Boucher, Ph.D. !!! En effet, de par son expertise et ses compétances indéniables, son outillage à la fine pointe de la technologie, sa personnalité franche et directe, son suivi serré et combien motivant, il a sû extirper de ma propre personne, le maximum de qualités athlétiques, dont j’ignorais, moi-même, l’existence…!!!
